An exotic, botanical fruit embroidery

A pair of soft, exotic fruit – a persimmon and a fig – complete with leaves. Natural and slightly imperfect, the fruit shapes give the finished embroidery a hand-drawn, botanical look.

The pattern uses a variety of embroidery stitches to build up areas of colour in innovative ways and keep the stitching process interesting and engaging. There’s a nod to crewel embroidery, but with a modern, more relaxed feel. While subtle shades of the same colour create depth and interest in each fruit. Using stitches in unusual ways adds an element of delight to this design, as well as creating original texture and detail.

Embroider the fruits as a pair or on their own, depending on what you’re making. They’re perfect for kitchen décor, aprons, tea towels, wall art, napkins… and make fresh, original gifts that don’t take an age to embroider.

Persimmon + Fig is one of eight patterns in the Fruit Duos collection, available as a bundle.
