This gorgeous beetle is fun and satisfying to embroider. There are enough different stitches in it to learn some new ones without feeling overwhelmed. And you can easily change the colours. It’s full of little details – like using a knobbly stitch to create texture on the carapace – and is suitable for all skill levels.

This design measures 4½ x 5½ inches | 11.5 x 14cm
